What a day

Well god, what a busy day today was! We had a late start this morning but still managed to have all the yard jobs done before lunch. Esme met Billi the goat today (see last post for pics!). I was amazed I must admit that Esme liked him! Shes normally either terrified of animals epecially cows or vicious towards them but thats mainly men! I had alot of catching up on my study to do this afternoon but still managed a long ride. Did a bit of dressage training with Esme which was good, shes really getting the hang of extention. Then we went and worked on a bit of jumping. At the start she just wasnt interested and was almost falling over them but in the end we finished on a high note. She has the strangest jumping technique, she loves to get a good powerful canter into the jump and the get close and lurch herself forward. If you try to collect her she wont jump high enough and there is no way you can get her to slow down. Its not possible, but her way works for her so im happy enough! We found a stray dog wandering around my stables/cattle farm that i share with the local old Irish farmer. The did didnt stay long though as the farmer chased him half way down a road which I wasnt too happy about. Anyway all in all today was good, heard that my first pony Roxy who I have loaned out to a small girl is hunting next weekend so i might consider going too!

Meeting Billi!

Brought Esme to meet our newest goat Billi this morning! Esme loved him, they really got on. more on that later, i just wanted to put up the pics!

The Weekend at last!

Well I must admit I was very relieved to be at the weekend at last! I have one horse in my care at the moment for the people who dont know! Esme, she is a five year old ex race horse that I saved from going to to the slaughter horse. She was a skinny, highly strung horse that only had a slim chance of surviving! That was in April, now shes unrecognisable. Amazing really to think back on it but she has come on so much, and she has given me a whole new lease of life. I was in a car accident back in December where I fractured my skull and other bumps and bruises! My medical treatment is ongoing but i feel so much brighter! Anyway me and Esme are in training for the young rider eventing competitions at the moment which is so hard to juggle with study and the Winter months! I do love the Winter really, I just hate the dark evenings! So myself and the horse Esme had professional photos taken today for a few reasons really but i do have a space on my living room wall!
